ASCO was founded in 1888 as a manufacturer of elevator, compressor and generator controls. In 1910, ASCO invented the solenoid valve. This new invention led to the development of special solenoid valves for various needs. Over time, ASCO developed the technology to produce other valves.
Such valves included signal valves and directional valves. In 1985, ASCO was acquired by Emerson, one of the world’s largest and most respected industrial companies. During this decade, Emerson acquired Joucomatic, Europe’s leading manufacturer of pneumatic valves, and added it to the ASCO family.
